Ruffle Shirt and Flowers

I used the tutorial found here to make the shirt which was pretty easy.

Then I used the Baskets & Blooms and Flower Folds Sizzix dies from Stampin' Up! to make the flowers for the girls hair. I cut one flower out of white felt and one out of fabric for each size, poked a hole through the middle and attached all the flowers with a rhinestone brad. Then I cut a small slit in the felt on the bottom flower to slide the clip under the felt and brad which is a pretty tight fit so it shouldn't come undone. Easy and no glue!

Rag Skirts

I got the idea from one of the ladies in my Stampin' Up! line. It was so cute I had to run to the fabric store and make 2 myself. The girls helped pick out the fabric. I chose to do 15 squares wide because I used 5 colors and I wanted to have the skirt run continuously all the way around. If you aren't as OCD about that stuff as me you can choose however many you'd like depending on the size you're making. I used the Sizzix Big Shot and Scallop Square Die both available to purchase through me from Stampin' Up!

1. Cut out 45 squares for the front and 45 for the back to line the skirt (size Toddler 3-5). I used white fabric to line the skirts.
2. Lay out the squares and make a pattern. Then I copied it for the second skirt.
3. Pin the rows together so they are ready to sew.4. Sew the squares together forming rows, then sew the rows together so that all squares are sewn in the pattern you layed them out in. Make sure you sew lining sides together and pattern sides on the outside.

5. Cut 2 strips for the bottom hem and the waist band. Cut the fabric 3x the width of the waistband so there is room to fold in half and fold the edges under. Cut the bottom hem at 3" wide and do the same thing. I had to piece my waistband/hem together to make it long enough.

6. Sew the hem on first and trim it to fit the width of the skirt.

7. Fold the skirt in half and sew up the back seam, again, lining inside and pattern outside.

8. Attach waistband the same way but leave a hole to thread the elastic through. You must use a large safety pin to do this otherwise you'll spend a lot of time and be really frustrated...ask me how I know.

I just love how these turned out!

I just finished some shirts to go with these and I'll post pics of those and the matching flowers in the next day or two. I think I'll have their pics taken in these. Doesn't Jade look so much like Kazia with her hair straightened...and so grown up!

Rag Bags

I just got a scallop square die for my sizzix machine and have put it to good use. I've been busy sewing for an upcoming Boutique. It is located at the fair grounds in Farmington. Here's a little peek at what I've been sewing. I think they are so cute! I've made around 20 of them. The more you wash them...the more ragged they look.

This 3 x 3 size has one pocket in the middle on the outside side of the bag, perfect for keys and/or cell phone. Side pocket on a 3 x 3 bag The 2 x 3 size bags have a pocket on the outside side and inside side, again, perfect for cell phone and/or keys, etc.

This is probably my favorite one...denim. SO CUTE! And it frays really well.
The 2 x 2 size is great for gifts, dress up, little items, scriptures, trick-or-treating, Easter bags and more. They have one pocket on the inside.

I just love the Tinkerbell one too.


I even have some gender neutral...

and little boy bags too.

As you can see, the pens fit nicely in the pocket on the inside along with your keys and maybe a phone.

Next on my major project list is to make a Cinderella dress for Jade's birthday and to design a diaper bag with flap and matching baby blanket for my new little boy that will be arriving in 3 months. I can't wait to share them.

They have decided to change the core colors to meet with current market trends. Here’s a break down of what you will find in the new color families.

In July we will have 5 new in-colors which will last for 2 years. Each year we will continue to have 5 new in-colors to play with. So starting in July 2011 we will have 10 In-Colors at a time. I love the In-Colors and I’m so excited that will be around for 2 years now.

YES that also means some of our current colors will be going away. I’m excited to let you know now so that you will have time to stock up on these colors before they are gone. They will retire at the end of June. Keep in mind that anything using these colors such as paper, products and accessories will also retire so stock up on your favorites now before it’s too late.

Now is a GREAT time to have a party and earn some of these colors before it’s too late.

New Color Renovation!!!! PDF of Colors Included

It has just been announced to the Stampin' Up! Demonstrators that there will be a color renovation for the new catalog beginning in July 2010! Some exciting changes are coming our way. Although most of the changes are fabulous...there are a few colors I'm sad to see retire. The links below are the colors that will be retiring and won't be available come June/July that you may want to stock up on and get ink refills for your ink pads and the new ones that will come out in July with the new catalog.

Mini Milk Cartons

I must say I just LOVE these little things. They're great for small gifts and treats. I have made a bunch for an upcoming boutique and am working on embellishing them. Below is just a few of my newest creations.

Hairbow Holder

I've seen these around and have wanted to make one for a while and finally got the chance. It was super quick, cheap, and easy to make. I bought a 7"x9" plaque from Joann's with my 40% off coupon so the wood was $1.79.

Step 1: I painted it Burnt Umber (2 coats).

Step 2: Cut 3-4 pieces of ribbon 20" long and measure another ribbon for the hanger at the top.
Step 3: Cut felt to size of the back of the plaque. This helps in attaching the ribbon and keeps the ribbon holder from scuffing the wall. Then hot glue ribbon onto felt.

Step 4: Cut letters out with cricut and run them through sizzix to emboss with polka dots (or use any lettering you have). Place letter where you want them. Do not adhere yet.

Step 5: Add embellishments. I used rubons. They were super quick, easy and no mess. I added a couple of extra flowers after the main embellishement to finish it off.

Step 6: Cover entire board with Modge Podge and adhere letters. Let it dry.

Step 7: Generously cover the entire board with a second coat of Modge Podge. This will seal the wood and the embellishments. Let it dry. If you are impatient like I am...use a blow dryer on cool to speed up the drying process between coats.

Step 8: Hot glue felt backing onto back of plaque ribbon side in to hide the ends.

It will look like this:

Step 9: Turn bottom of ribbon under twice hot glueing them both times to finish of the ends.

Voila!!! Ready for bows!

Step 10: Hang on the wall (I need a good nail...maybe tomorrow) and add bows.

This is a great way to build your supplies or start collecting supplies if you're just getting started. • To learn how to fold the mini milk carton check out the tutorial found here.
  You will only need to read from step 8 and down since the milk carton in die cut for you.
• Then put adhesive on your ribbon and wrap it around your milk carton starting and ending at a corner.
• Then stick heart and saying on with mini glue dots and add clip to the top.
  
  

• Adhere perfect plum and pretty in pink cardstock to the old olive base as shown below.
• Tie pink ribbon around card front sliding it through hole on the left.
• Adhere Designer Series Paper to large heart then adhere heart to card front slightly to the right using mini glue dots.
• Adhere small heart to large heart using mini glue dots.
